HISTORY OF THE NEW BRUNSWICK INDIAN SUMMER GAMES
Due to a fire that the Union of New Brunswick Indians had many years ago, the history of the New Brunswick Indian Summer Games has been lost. Many phone calls were made around the province looking for any piece of history that could be found but to no avail; noone had anything that they were able to share.
Frederick J. Sappier, a member of the Woodstock First Nation, had worked for the Union of New Brunswick Indians in the 70's. Fred always had recreation on his mind. It was in large part of Fred working at the Union and the Union willing to help Fred in this province wide endeavor that the NB Indian Summer Games had come to be.
Children of many ages participated in the various sports that were available at the games. It was in competing and playing against other reserves that long lasting friendships had been made.
